Bio
Nomfundo started her association with the DPTC as a Board member from 1999 – 2007 and took the reigns of the organization as CEO in April 2007. She is a clinical psychologist who started out her career at Valkenberg Hospital where she worked for 5 years and then moved on to become the Director of the Trauma Centre for Survivors of Violence and Torture in Cape Town which she headed for 9 years. She was actively involved as a commissioner in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa.
Nomfundo's passion for her work as an activist for human rights extends far beyond the South African borders as she is also actively involved in organizations such as Psychologists without borders and Operation Dove. She is a Board member of the Open Society Foundation, Social Change Assistance Trust, co-chair of the Electoral Commission Code of Conduct (ECCOC) and Women Demanding Dignity.
