The Trust

The DTPC is governed by trustees who bring a range expertise and experiences, some of whom are renowned for their contribution in assisting with South Africa's transition to democracy. We are also supported by a network of local and international advocates that serve as our patrons.

Prof. Njabulo S. Ndebele

Professor Njabulo Ndebele is currently the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Cape Town. Prior to this appointment he was Scholar in Residence at the Ford Foundation in New York, served as Vice-Chancellor of the University of the North and Vice-Rector of the University of the Western Cape.

Professor Ndebele is an accomplished author, and has held the Chair of African Literature at the University of the Witwatersrand and the Chair of English at the University of Lesotho. He has served on many public bodies, in particular those relating to higher education in Africa. He is currently President of the Association of African Universities (AAU) and Chair of the Southern African Regional Universities Association (SARUA).
